It started with a girl, a construction site, and a question: why?

Kind Soles started because of something I noticed at home.

Our house was being renovated, and the workers had brought their kids along. These children were outside every day — running around, playing, having fun — but all of them were barefoot. I didn't think much of it at first. Then we learned in school about what actually happens to your feet when you're always without shoes. Infections. Warts. Problems with your spine. Things that can follow you your whole life.

I kept thinking about those kids outside.

I wanted to do something. I didn't have a plan. I just knew I had to start somewhere. So I did.
